If you take a stroll along the paved path hugging the shoreline of upper Arrow Lake, you will understand why the locals love where they live. Embraced by both the Monashee and Selkirk Mountains, Nakusp is known for its hot springs, but also for that feeling (once you’ve arrived you will recognize it) of being surrounded by wilderness – even though you know that a good coffee or a fun night out is as close as you could want.

The name of the town derives from the native word for “bay of quiet waters” – Neqpo’sp. Still waters run deep and the village’s lakefront location is the soul of the community, even if, on a winter’s day, its heart might be thumping at a close rep hockey game in the arena.

Today, Nakusp offers visitors a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for a vacation. There is a large variety of outdoor recreation opportunities to enjoy. In the summer there is fishing, boating, house boating, swimming, snorkelling, walking, hiking, biking, camping and golfing. In the winter, there is nothing more relaxing and rejuvenating than staying at either of the two hot springs resorts and enjoying the naturally hot water pools after an exhilarating day of skiing or snowmobiling in the backcountry.
