Fruitvale

Fruitvale is the heart of the Beaver Valley. It is home to about 2,000 folk, many of whom work in the neighbouring communities of Trail and Castlegar, but who are very active and community-minded in their hometown. Belying its small footprint, Fruitvale has a number of distinct events such as May Days and the Fruitvale Mountain Music Festival, a dynamic arts community and an entrenched sports culture. For this to be possible, the level of volunteerism and club membership Fruitvale enjoys is crucial.

In the downtown core, there are some great stores that will surprise and delight visitors. The valley which cradles Fruitvale is the setting for some excellent outdoor experiences, whether you go for the extreme or the serene.

Sporting facilities include an ice arena, soccer fields, baseball/softball parks, curling rink, bowling alley, and rodeo grounds. Further afield you will find campgrounds, snowmobiling trails, boating, fishing, cross country skiing at the Champion Lakes Provincial Park or in the valley along Beaver Creek, and golfing at the Champion Lakes Golf & Country Club.
